Ultra-nationalist politician Vladimir Jirinovski suggests legalizing polygamy as a solution to natality problems in Russia.
“If we helped just five per cent (of these couples) we would have around 200,000 extra births per year,” he said.
Dmitri Medvedev said this was a “very interesting” proposal.
Russia’s population grew in 2009 for the first time since 1995.
“If this project goes forward, you will be one of the most famous people in the world by Friday,” said Steve Schmidt on CBS news magazine 60 Minutes, a few days before McCain would announce Sarah Palin’s candidacy for vice president. “Will you be able to live with that?”
Palin, looking very calm, said she could.
“You don’t seem nervous at all about this,” Schmidt recalled.
“No, it’s God’s plan.”
“As we sit on the eve of another Christmas, I wonder: What would have happened if Mother Mary were covered by Obamacare? What if that young, poor uninsured teenaged woman were provided the federal funds (via Obamacare) and facilities (via Planned Parenthood, etc.) to avoid the ridicule, ostracizing, persecution and possible stoning because of her out-of-wedlock pregnancy? Will Obamacare morph into Herodcare for the unborn?”

A new gaffe by Prince Philip surfaced today: he mocked the tie color of a blind army cadet hero.
Stephen Menary, 15, was blinded when he attempted to throw away an explosive device thrown by during an IRA attack back in 2002. He was later invited to the Queen’s jubilee celebration in Hyde Park.
“How much sight do you have left?” asked the Queen to the young hero.
“Not a lot, judging by the tie he’s wearing,” said Prince Philip before the young man had time to answer.
The Queen looked at him open-mouthed. A long silence followed.
Stephen Menary was wearing a red, navy, and yellow tie, which is part of the uniform of the Middlesex Cadet Force.
MI6 got its intelligence on the threat posed by weapons of mass destruction from an Iraqi taxi driver, according to a Tory MP and to defense specialist Adam Holloway.
The taxi driver, who had heard Iraqi military talking about weapons, is the source of the now discredited claim that Saddam Hussein had the ability to launch weapons of mass destruction within 45 minutes.
Tony Blair used the 45-minute threat in 2002 in an effort to gain public support for the war. Ex-spy chief John Scarlett said it was not his intention to mislead people in that dossier. But isn’t disinformation one of the many services offered by MI6 to its people?
If only the taxi driver had known at the time how much trouble he was about to bring to his fellow Iraqis by telling British intelligence what they so desperately wanted to hear.
