Sarah Palin“Well, let’s see. There’s ― of course in the great history of America there have been rulings that there’s never going to be absolute consensus by every American, and there are those issues, again, like Roe v. Wade, where I believe are best held on a state level and addressed there. So, you know, going through the history of America, there would be others but…”

Sarah PalinWhen asked by Katie Couric what newspapers and magazines she reads to stay informed, Sarah Palin, unable to name a single one, replies:

“All of ‘em, any of ‘em that have been in front of me over all these years.”

And after Couric insisted:

“I have a vast variety of sources where we get our news too. Alaska isn’t a foreign country, where, it’s kind of suggested and it seems like, ‘Wow, how could you keep in touch with what the rest of Washington, D.C. may be thinking and doing when you live up there in Alaska?’ Believe me, Alaska is like a microcosm of America.”

Sarah Palin interviewIn an interview with Katie Couric, Sarah Palin explained why Alaska’s proximity to Russia gave her credentials in foreign policy:

“As Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where– where do they go? It’s Alaska. It’s just right over the border.”

The next day, she added more in an interview with Charlie Gibson.

“What insight into Russian actions, particularly in the last couple of weeks, does the proximity of the state give you?” asked Gibson.

“They’re our next door neighbors, and you can actually see Russia from land, here in Alaska,” answered Palin.
